Summary
The K-12 Education Grant Program by the Pulitzer Center invites innovative educational projects that use journalism to engage K-12 students and educators in global health issues. Selected proposals, aiming to impact at least 500 individuals, will be refined through workshops for a chance to secure $1,500 grants for implementation in spring 2026. This initiative seeks to enhance understanding and inspire sustainable change within communities.Overview
Pulitzer Center The Pulitzer Center has a bold vision: to be the venue for the world’s most innovative and consequential reporting, with journalism as the key element for mobilizing society through audience engagement strategies. Founded in 2006 by Jon Sawyer, the Center is an essential source of support for enterprise reporting in the United States and across the globe. The thousands of journalists and educators who are part of our networks span more than 80 countries. Our work reaches tens of millions of people each year through our news-media partners and an audience-centered strategy of global and regional engagement. K-12 Education Grant Program: Global Health The K-12 Education Grant Program on Global Health invites individuals and organizations who serve K-12 students and/or educators to propose educational projects that use Pulitzer Center-supported journalism to engage their communities with global issues, and inspire action that improves health outcomes. Selected participants will refine their proposals through a short winter workshop series in order to secure $1,500 grants to implement their projects in spring 2026. We welcome proposals for projects that will: Impact at least 500 K-12 students and/or educators in their local communities. Engage Ode to Healthy Futures OR one or more Pulitzer Center-supported global health news stories from the list provided as a central resource for the project(s). Increase students’ and/or educators’ critical understanding of a global health topic. Explore the role the news media plays in the global public health ecosystem. Provide students and/or educators with a structure or opportunity to apply their learning and create sustainable change. We are seeking projects that go beyond the individual classroom level to engage large groups of learners on the school, district, and/or community level. We encourage applicants working with smaller groups to collaborate and apply as a multisite or multiorganizational project.Eligibility
