Joseph and Bonnie Halvorsen Memorial Scholarship

Overview:
Established by the Halvorsen's five children to honor their parents. Joseph Halvorsen began his career with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources shortly after marrying Bonnie in 1952. Between 1963 and 1977, he managed multiple Michigan state parks (F. J. McLain, Grand Haven, Brimley, and Tahquamenon Falls) until his retirement in 1991. Despite lacking a college degree, Halvorsen was committed to training and mentoring his successors.
