Background: Established in 2007 in honor of John S. Brewer, son of John L and Janice Kay Brewer and brother to Michael Brewer (co-founder of Hope & A Future). John deeply believed in the organization's mission. The scholarship fund was established through donations received when he passed away from cancer in 2007. Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, mother of co-founder Michael Brewer, is a member of the nonprofit's advisory board and helped establish this fund.

Eligibility:

    - If currently enrolled in proposed school/program: copy of most recent transcript
    - Copy of FAFSA application or summary report
    - Copy of acceptance letter into proposed school/program
    - Information on proposed Course of Study/School/Program

    2. Continuing/Renewal Applicants Must Provide:
    - Completed John S. Brewer Memorial Scholarship Application
    - Copy of most recent transcript (failure to provide may result in cancellation of scholarship)
    - Any updated FAFSA report
    - Verification of current registration

  • Type: University, College, Community College, Vocational/Technical School, or Correspondence Course

  • Proposed course of study (e.g., medical, accounting, nursing, biology, cosmetology, general)

  • Date applied to school/program

  • Acceptance status (yes/no); attach acceptance letter if accepted

  • Proposed start date and completion date

  • Enrollment status: Part-time, Three-quarter time, or Full-time

  • Financial aid officer name and phone number
  • Financial Information:

  • Semester or school year application (Fall, Spring, Summer, or full year)

  • List all proposed total expenses: tuition, fees, books, transportation, rent, food, utilities, day care, other

  • List monthly estimated amounts

  • All grants, loans, scholarships, work-study programs applied for, received, and amounts

  • Pell Grant status (yes/no)

  • FAFSA completion status (yes/no); attach copy if completed

  • Other sources of funds (personal savings, family, friends, etc.)
  • Employment Information:

  • Currently employed (yes/no)

  • Plan to work while in school (yes/no)

  • If employed or will be employed: expected earnings, employer name, employer phone
  • Funding Request:

  • Total amount requested from Hope & A Future (maximum $5,000)

  • Personal Statement:

  • Essay: Tell Hope & A Future about your goals and objectives in pursuing your chosen course of study
