NOTE: BY INVITATION ONLY on a rolling basis. To be considered, please email a short project description (1-page or less). Description must clearly explain connection to The Knight Foundation’s funding priorities, or the project will not be considered further. As social investors, The Knight Foundation works to spot and advance community trends; act as early adopters of ideas; and support the individuals and spaces that shape our cities’ futures. The Knight Foundation’s investments to promote more engaged communities include: Downtown and Neighborhood Revitalization Making an area more livable, attractive and economically vibrant by improving, developing and restoring downtowns and neighborhoods. Public Spaces Connecting people to the places where they live by supporting the programming, design and construction of inclusive and equitable public spaces. Economic Opportunity Attracting and retaining residents by advancing inclusive pathways to jobs and entrepreneurship. “Smart Cities” as Responsive Cities Helping cities make decisions that are more responsive to residents as digital technology reshapes our lives and shifts the ways in which communities are informed and engaged. The Knight Fund believes that the design of places plays an outsize role in achieving these goals.Eligibility

Knight Foundation Donor Advised Fund, unlike other donor advised funds, accepts project proposals for programs within Horry County only.The Waccamaw Community Foundation considers applications from organizations that: Are determined by the I.R.S. as being a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of I.R.S. code, a government agency or recognized house of worship that are exempt from income tax.Provide programs and services to Horry and/or Georgetown counties.Do not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, sexual orientation, national/ethnic origin or disability.Ineligibility
Applications that are in support of the following are discouraged from submitting:private foundations, individuals, political or lobbying organizations strictly religious purposes, including worship, instruction or recruitmentpublication of booksconferences, dinners, fundraisers, or other special one-time eventsreimbursements, including for programs that have already taken placecapital campaigns or endowmentsprojects that are typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local governmentsAn organization may only be awarded one grant per fund during a 12-month period.
