About the Foundation Martha Jane Fields was born on December 26, 1913. The Foundation purposes were later expanded to support organizations within St. Joseph County with an emphasis on literary, educational, artistic and social service purposes. Ms. Fields passed away on May 28, 1998 at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy that continues to benefit St. Joseph County.
