John Aman Memorial Scholarship

Funder: Unison Credit Union

Award Amount: $2,000 per recipient

Purpose: Awards students who best mirror the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" and have learned the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their community. This scholarship is given in memory of John Aman, Unison's first CEO (hired in 1970), honoring his commitment to the credit union industry and community through volunteerism and putting members' needs first.

    Eligibility

  • Membership Required: Student or parent/guardian must be a Unison Credit Union member
  • Ineligibility: Children and family members of current Unison employees are not eligible
  • Academic Status: Graduating high school seniors planning to attend a two to four-year degree program
  • Program Type: College, university, or technical school
  • Geographic Scope: Must live or attend high school in one of Unison's membership-eligible areas: Brown, Calumet, Manitowoc, Outagamie, or Winnebago County, Wisconsin

    Scoring Criteria

    Applications are scored based on:
  • Demonstrated importance of volunteerism and giving back to community
  • Co-curricular activities
  • Employment experience

    Award Details

  • Winners notified at school's awards presentation (or by mail if not present)
  • Proof of enrollment required to receive funds (copy of class schedule or invoice)
  • Check made out to student
  • Award paid in one check for fall semester
  • Student responsible for contacting Unison Credit Union to claim award

3. Deadline: Applications must be received by Friday, March 6 by 3:00 pm

4. Award Claim: Upon selection, student must present proof of enrollment at school of choice (e.g., copy of class schedule or invoice) to receive scholarship proceeds
