  • Background:
    Joan Hamel was a founding member of the KHCA Nursing Advisory Committee and a lifelong nurse and caregiver with over 25 years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Consultant, and Educator in long-term care. She received her Nursing Certificate from Marymount College and worked at various healthcare facilities including St. Joseph Hospital and nursing homes. After a career-ending auto accident, fellow nurses established this scholarship in her honor to support nursing education and professional development. Joan Hamel passed away July 14, 2016, at age 79.
