#### 1. US & Japan Relations
Supports cultural exchange programs and sister city relationships between Michigan communities and Japanese cities. Examples include:

Ann Arbor Public Schools-Hikone Ann Arbor Educational Exchange Program

Clinton Township – Yasu Cultural Exchange Program

Monroe International Friendship Association (supports Monroe, MI – Hofu, Yamaguchi, Japan high school exchange)

Pontiac School District International Exchange Committee

Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) – Koka City, Shiga middle school exchange

West Bloomfield Township Public Library (20-year sister library relationship with Higashiura Library in Awaji City)

International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit (Detroit Sister Cities Program)

Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU)

Japanese Teachers Association of Michigan (JTAM)

University of Michigan – Japan Student Association

#### 2. Education & Research
Supports Japanese language education and cultural studies in schools and universities:

Elementary schools (Bach Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Lawton Elementary, Slauson Middle School - Ann Arbor)

Secondary schools (Clarkston High School, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, West Bloomfield School District)

Higher education (Eastern Michigan University Foundation, University of Michigan, Western Michigan University)

College for Creative Studies

Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School (FLICS)

Hinoki Foundation (Kids & College Students Program with Shimane University)

Japanese School of Detroit
