Jay Murphy Scholarship Grant

The Jay Murphy Scholarship, established by the East Alabama Community Foundation, supports aspiring teachers who connect well with youth. Open to college entrants, current educators seeking skill upgrades, or professionals returning to teaching, applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. This renewable scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities in Chambers, Lee, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties, fostering a new generation of educators committed to making a positive impact in their communities.

East Alabama Community Foundation
EACF became an affiliate of the Central Alabama Community Foundation in 2024. This partnership strengthens our ability to support local initiatives, grantmaking, and community programs that address the unique needs of East Alabama. EACF addresses a wide variety of concerns, supporting projects and programs in education, health, human services, cultural arts, recreation, historic preservation, and other civic concerns. Every year, EACF awards grants to nonprofit projects and programs providing services in Chambers, Lee, Russell and Tallapoosa counties.
This scholarship benefits individuals who have the desire to become teachers and relate well with young people. Applicants may be entering or continuing college, individuals who are in education and want to upgrade their skills or working individuals who wish to return to college to become teachers. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This scholarship is renewable.
