Overview

James M. 'Jim Bob' Norman Scholarship Fund

Funder: Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate (FWSSS)

Background: Established in 1984 in memory of Mr. James M. Norman, who was chairman of the Syndicate at the time of his death. Norman was active in many youth organizations and dreamed of creating a college scholarship endowment to help young Texans pursue agricultural careers.

Mission: To encourage youth to pursue agricultural careers by providing financial support for higher education.

Award History:

  • Since inception: Over $3.5 million distributed in scholarships

  • 2025: 24 scholarships of $10,000 each awarded (12 to 4-H students, 12 to FFA students)
  • Geographic Scope: Texas

    Eligibility:

  • Texas high school students

  • Members of 4-H or FFA organizations

  • Must attend a Texas institution

  • Must pursue a four-year bachelor's degree in an agricultural or life sciences curriculum

  • Must enroll in and complete at least 12 hours each semester
  • Award Distribution:

  • Equal distribution between 4-H and FFA members

  • Scholarships administered by 4-H and FFA organizations

  • Fund maintains contact with scholars through reports and direct communication
