James Hantak Scholarship Grant

The James Hantak Scholarship, established by The Columbus Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Columbus City Schools, Upper Arlington High School, or volunteers and athletes from Lancaster Special Olympics with special needs. The scholarship offers $5,000 annually for educational pursuits, with an additional $10,000 scholarship awarded based on financial need. Preference is given to athletes and volunteers from Special Olympics. This initiative aims to enhance opportunities for students in central Ohio, promoting inclusivity and community engagement.

The Columbus Foundation
In 1943, during the darkness of World War II, a group of passionate citizens, led by Columbus businessman Harrison M. Sayre, envisioned a way to improve the well-being of the community and the quality of life in central Ohio. With little more than this sound idea and faith, The Columbus Foundation was established.
The fund supports a graduating senior of Columbus City Schools, Upper Arlington High School, or volunteer or athlete from Lancaster Special Olympics with special needs. Preference may be given to athletes or volunteers of Special Olympics.
Award Amount:

• $5,000 per year for the duration of the program or degree.

One “Jay Elliott Building for Tomorrow Scholarship” for $10,000 per year for the duration of the program or degree awarded to the candidate with the highest financial need and character scores. Note: the Jay Elliot Building for Tomorrow Scholarship is awarded in the Spring each year.

Eligibility

Candidates must plan to attend a trade school, vocational school, or college/university.
Candidates must be graduating seniors of Lancaster schools, Upper Arlington High School, or Columbus City Schools.Candidates must attend or plan to attend an educational institution in the U.S.
