J.E. & Z.B. Butler Foundation Grant

The J.E. & Z.B. Butler Foundation Grant aims to foster an inclusive environment where individuals of all abilities are respected and valued. The foundation prioritizes funding direct service programs that promote personal growth, self-advocacy, and meaningful engagement for individuals with disabilities. It supports after-school, summer, and work readiness initiatives, focusing on educational and social opportunities. The foundation encourages collaboration and professional development to enhance the effectiveness of funded programs in the New York Metropolitan and Boston areas.

Funding Priorities
Direct Service programs that offer opportunities for personal growth are integral to the Foundation's mission.
The Butler Foundation funds innovative, inclusive programming in which people of all abilities can learn from one another and respect each person’s unique abilities. Our priority is to provide the resources for individuals with physical, developmental, and learning disabilities to engage in meaningful endeavors that bolster engagement and self-esteem, teach self-advocacy and build competencies that will enhance their lives.
Funding focuses on after-school, summer, vacation and work readiness programs that include educational supports, social and recreational activities, leadership development, mentoring, community involvement and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.  Key to the success of this work is the professional development of staff working in programs for people with disabilities and collaboration among community organizations.

Eligibility

Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.The Foundation ONLY supports programs in the New York Metropolitan and Boston Areas.Grants are generally awarded for one year. Occasionally the Foundation will consider multi-year grants.The Foundation values creative, interactive engagement with our funding partners. We encourage our grantees to build on successful projects by seeking additional funders to ensure the long term viability of their programs. It is the goal of the Foundation, that after several years of funding, projects will be on steady ground and we will move on to seed new projects.

Ineligibility

Individuals, annual giving programs, educational institutions or religious organizations are not eligible.Grants to capital campaigns, endowments and research projects are generally not considered.
