The EMERGE Mentorship Program pairs experienced technology professionals with Black female students pursuing degrees in technology fields. Launched as a pilot in 2019 and expanded through a $500,000 grant from Reboot Representation in 2020.

Background

The program addresses the "leaky pipeline" in STEM—high attrition rates caused by lack of belonging, unconscious bias, and stereotypes. The EMERGE Academy, which houses women-focused programming, evolved from a successful 2018 proof-of-concept capstone project.
