Overview
Itasca-Mantrap Education Scholarship
Purpose: Support local students pursuing their educational goals and staying connected to their hometowns through scholarships funded by unclaimed capital credits.
Geographic Scope: Service territory of Itasca-Mantrap Electric Cooperative (Minnesota)
Eligible School Districts:
Eligibility
- Applicants: Graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, or adults returning to school
- Member Requirement: Active Itasca-Mantrap member or dependent of an active member
- GPA Requirement: Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Enrollment Status: Must be enrolled on a full-time basis
- Award Type: One-time scholarship
Funding Source
Scholarships are funded through unclaimed capital credits. Minnesota state law allows electric cooperatives to use unclaimed capital credits that remain uncashed for seven years for charitable or educational purposes.
Award Details
- Up to five $1,000 scholarships available annually
- Scholarships awarded based on funds available and applicants' eligibility
- Payment made directly to educational institution for credit to student's account
- Awards announced and distributed in spring prior to recipient's graduation

Requirements
