Since that time, the foundation has grown to manage hundreds of charitable funds. Each year, the funds distribute millions of dollars in scholarships and grants to support local students and nonprofit organizations and causes. Iris M. Balthaser Adam Scholarship Fund The Iris M. Balthaser Adam Scholarship Fund was established at Berks County Community Foundation by her family in 2014 in memory of Iris, who passed away in 1991. Iris was a school teacher at Hamburg Area School District for 30 years. This fund will provide scholarships to high school seniors who are graduating from a Berks County, Pennsylvania, school district who will be attending Kutztown University and majoring in Elementary Education.
