Innovative Teaching Initiative Professional Development Grants

Overview: The FBE is committed to supporting teachers and staff with ongoing professional development.

Geographic Scope: Belmont Public Schools, Belmont, MA

  • Teachers and school staff in Belmont Public Schools
  • Purpose: Each year the BPS administration proposes a series of professional development initiatives whose value is integral to the ongoing training of teachers and staff. The goal of professional development programs is to improve teachers' knowledge and understanding of what constitutes quality instruction while linking improvements in teaching to progress in student achievement.

    Background: To date more than $4.4 million has been awarded in grants and assistance since 1993, and more than 1000 projects have been financed.

    Application Process

    Applications are reviewed by the FBE Program Committee members. Every grant application is reviewed by the entire Program Committee who make funding recommendations to the Board of Directors.
