Inland Power Excellence Award Scholarship

Program Type: Scholarship for academic excellence and community service

Background: Since 1992, Inland Power & Light has been awarding scholarships to members and their dependents who have excelled academically and in community service.

Award Details:

  • Number of Awards: 15 scholarships annually

  • Award Amount: $1,000 per scholarship

  • Eligible Students: Graduating high school seniors, continuing college students, and students enrolling in line school
  • Geographic Scope: Students attending accredited schools in any state

    Eligibility:

  • Must be an active Inland Power member or dependent of an active member

  • College students must be claimed as legal dependents on parent/guardian's tax return

  • Relatives of selection committee members are not eligible

  • Scholarship recipients may reapply the following year, but at least 10 of 15 scholarships are reserved for new applicants
  • Selection Process:

  • All-volunteer committee comprised of 5-10 Inland members reviews applications

  • Committee serves one-year terms and administers program according to set criteria

  • Committee meets in February; recipients notified at beginning of March
  • Award Distribution:
    Scholarship checks are paid directly to colleges and trade schools upon selection and official enrollment.

    3. Personal Profile (weighted 35% in evaluation)
