Independent Living Experience (ILE) Needs-Based Scholarship

Organization: Glade Run Lutheran Services

Program Overview:
Financial assistance program for young adults ages 18-35 with autism and/or intellectual disabilities who wish to participate in Glade Run's Independent Living Experience program but have financial need.

Geographic Scope: Pennsylvania (Zelienople, PA location)

Target Population:

  • Young adults ages 18-35

  • Diagnosed with autism and/or intellectual disability

  • Ability to self-administer all medications

  • Ability to navigate community with support at 1:5 ratio
  • Program Details:
    The ILE is a 6-day residential program designed to help young adults gain confidence and independence through activities focused on:

  • Increasing social skills

  • Promoting adult readiness

  • Building employment skills

  • Encouraging independence

  • Daily activities include morning/evening activities, self-care, group activities, meal preparation, and physical exercise
  • 2026 Program Sessions:

  • Session 1: June 7-12

  • Session 2: June 14-19

  • Session 3: June 21-26

  • Session 4: July 26-31 (female only)

  • Session 5: August 2-7
  • Program Cost: $2,000/week per participant

  • Waiver Funding (through Supports Coordinator)

  • ESY (Extended School Year) funding through school district

    Application Process

    1. Access Application: Complete the 2026 ILE Online Application
    2. Submit Scholarship Form: A "Needs Based Scholarship Application" is available online
    3. Payment Arrangement: Payment must be secured or funding agencies must provide proof of payment prior to program start
