Overview

The Murdoch Center Foundation Through its efforts, the foundation raises funds to support service enhancement, education and awareness, family support and professional development opportunities for the staff at Murdoch Developmental Center. Dedicated to creating a lasting impact, the foundation plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and empowering the professionals who serve them. Murdoch Center Foundation Scholarship The Murdoch Center Foundation, Inc. will provide up to four $1,500 academic scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year to qualified applicants. One of the four scholarships is designed by the sponsor for Murdoch Employees only with the intent of serving persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (based on fields of service/positions within the NC DHHS Developmental Centers).  Applicants must have a college/university acceptance letter, be an undergraduate, or working on their graduate degree with the intent of serving persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 2025-2026 scholarships will be available to individuals residing in one of 25 counties of the Central Region of North Carolina (Alamance, Anson, Caswell, Chatham, Davie, Durham, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Rockingham, Stokes, Vance, Wake, and Warren).

Eligibility

Student must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for his/her respective scholarship: Have an acceptance letter from the college/university or be a full-time college student or graduate student. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher, or a graduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Continue to major in one of the degree programs cited above. Demonstrate evidence of volunteer (or paid) experience in human services. The student must submit the following to apply for the scholarship: Murdoch Center Foundation Scholarship Application Form School acceptance letter (if applicable) Recommendation letters from volunteer experience or previous contribution to the field At least one letter of reference from a professor or high school professional OFFICIAL College Transcript or high school transcript (if applicable). *Please note all scholarship funds will be made payable to the institution of higher learning that you have been accepted to and enrolled in.
