The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund was a state program designed to provide emergency assistance to homeowners in need of help with mortgage payments, property taxes, utilities, and other housing-related expenses. The program has closed to new applications.

Program Goals

• Prevent mortgage delinquency, default, or foreclosure
• Prevent loss of utilities or other public services
• Prevent homeowner displacement or loss of ability to live in home

• Economic Growth Corporation is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency
• Available to assist with ILHAF-related housing counseling certificates
• Appointments for housing counseling were available through November 30, 2023
