Program Description
The Veteran Directed Care Program pays for qualified Veterans to receive services and support to help them maintain independence in their own homes.- Must be a Veteran
- Must be determined eligible through a Geriatric Extended Care Assessment (GEC) administered by a nurse at the VA Medical Clinic
- Must have assessed care needs
Eligibility
- Funding for Personal Care Aide (PCA) hours
- Authorized services and supports
- Budget determination based on individual assessment
- Savings account feature for unused budget funds (funds held for authorized purchases; unused funds returned to VA at end of authorization period)
- Reassessment every 6 or 12 months
