NOTE: Prospective grantees are encouraged to begin the process by submitting a Letter of Intent through our Grant Portal. Once we review the eligibility of your Request, we will contact you to arrange a site visit for technical assistance. These initial assessments are free of charge and allow us to help guide you through the best way to proceed with your project. Serving all Idahoans by preserving our cultural legacy. The Idaho Heritage Trust preserves Idaho’s rich cultural history by providing grants and technical assistance to preservationists in every nook and cranny of the Gem State. Our grassroots efforts on behalf of all Idahoans honor the legacy of our ancestors, enrich our present, and ensure our collective heritage will be enjoyed for generations to come. Your License Plates at Work Funds generated by the red, white and blue license plate support historic preservation throughout Idaho. Fifty cents from each standard Idaho plate goes into an endowment fund. The earnings from the fund, in partnership with money from the local community, supports the preservation of historic buildings, sites and artifact collections throughout Idaho. Saving Historic Idaho for Tomorrow Founded in 1989, the Idaho Heritage Trust began as a lasting legacy of the Centennial Celebration of 1990. Eligibility

For exceptions stipulated above, please contact the Trust office for evaluation.Exceptions may be considered for an exceptionally important historic building to the community or state. Contact the Trust office if you have questions regarding the eligibility of your project.Consideration is given to projects that lack funding from other sources, or a building that is in imminent jeopardy due to decay, demolition, or deterioration by neglect.

Ineligibility

Grants are not awarded to privately-owned buildings, including private residences or for-profit businesses.The Trust will not fund the relocation of buildings to new locations or reconstruction of historic structures.
