Grant program to fund musical instruments for Nevada public school music programs in rural counties. Hughes and Alvin C. Jones.

Background: The Hughes & Jones Music Fund was created with the singular objective of financing musical instruments for Nevada's public schools. The goal is to provide instruments to students who might face challenges affording them, allowing local schools to retain ownership for continuous student use.

Geographic Scope: All rural Nevada counties (non-Clark, non-Washoe)

Funding Cycle: Spring of odd years (2025, 2027, 2029, etc.)

• Musical instrument acquisition for public school music programs
• Band programs
• Orchestra programs
• Choir programs
• Guitar programs
• Mariachi programs
• Jazz programs
• Piano programs
• Rock Academy programs

Eligibility:

• Public middle schools in rural Nevada counties
• Public high schools in rural Nevada counties
• Only one proposal per music program
• Schools may submit multiple proposals, but total awards per school cannot exceed $7,000

What They Fund:

• Musical instruments only
• All instruments remain property of the school
• Available for continuous loan and use by participating students

Online Application Portal:

Registration Steps:
1. Access the Hughes & Jones Music Grant Cycle Application portal
2. Select "Grant Applicant" under Portal Access
3. Enter school name under Organization Name
4. If school name cannot be found, select "Create New Organization" and enter school information
5. Complete all required fields in organizational profile
6. Submit proposal by deadline

Application Requirements:

Proposal Deadline: March 14, 2025 by 5:00 PM (for 2025 cycle)

Award Notification: Announcements made in spring of grant year
