Horatio Alger Montana Undergraduate Scholarship Program The Horatio Alger Montana Undergraduate Scholarship Program, supported by the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, provides substantial financial assistance to Montana high school seniors who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming significant adversity. The scholarship is designed for students who exhibit strong character, a commitment to pursuing higher education, and financial need. Recipients may use the award at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States to pursue an undergraduate degree. The program supports students who have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA, are U.S. citizens, and come from households with low to moderate income. In addition to financial support, scholars gain access to mentoring, networking, and educational resources through the Horatio Alger Association, helping them persist through college and achieve long-term success.Eligibility

Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in Montana, progressing toward graduation in spring/summer 2024, with plans to enter a college in the Montana University System no later than the fall following graduation.Be involved in co-curricular, after school, or community activities.Demonstrate critical financial need. Students of families who are eligible for the pell grant are strongly encouraged to apply.Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.Be a United States citizen.Pursue & complete a bachelor’s degree in the Montana University System.
