History Essay Contest

Award Type: Essay competition on historical topics in urology

Award Amount:

  • 1st Prize: $500 (plus certificate)

  • 2nd Prize: $300 (plus certificate)

  • 3rd Prize: $100 (plus certificate)
  • Geographic Scope: Western Section AUA

    Eligibility: Any category of Western Section membership is eligible to submit.

    Subject Matter: The essay may consist of anything of a historical nature including but not limited to persons, training programs, procedures, instruments, pharmaceuticals, diseases, treatment, concepts, etc. Must not be published prior to the date of the meeting.

    Judging Criteria: Papers are judged by the History and Program Committees of the Western Section. Originality, importance of material and editorial clarity are important points in judging.

    Application Process

    1. Write historical essay on urology-related topic
    2. Ensure essay has not been previously published
    3. Submit through online form for annual meeting
    4. Include abstract in Abstract Book submission
    5. Judging by History and Program Committees

    Requirements

    • Open to any Western Section membership category
    • Historical subject matter (persons, training programs, procedures, instruments, pharmaceuticals, diseases, treatment, concepts, etc.)
    • Original, unpublished work
    • Judged on originality, importance of material, and editorial clarity
