Henry D. and Ruth G. Swartz Family Fund Scholarship Grant

The Henry D. and Ruth G. Swartz Family Fund Scholarship, established in 1996, supports high school seniors from North Ottawa County pursuing post-secondary education in engineering, computer science, pre-law, or medicine. Awarded competitively by the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide necessary documentation, including transcripts and recommendation letters. This scholarship honors the legacy of local residents Hank and Ruth Swartz, encouraging students to achieve their educational goals.

Scholarships
Grand Haven Area Community Foundation scholarships are awarded competitively based on criteria set by donors. These criteria could include financial need, the school the applicant is attending, academic achievement, as well as personal or career goals. The Community Foundation has a rigorous internal selection process for each scholarship decision, and each applicant is reviewed in depth, and considered thoroughly.
Our scholarship program is simple. You are able to apply once for all foundation scholarships you may be eligible for. Once your application is submitted, you will be eligible for all those for which you meet the requirement.
This fund was established in 1996 by Henry and Ruth Swartz who desired to assist area high school graduates to pursue their post-secondary education.
Hank and Ruth were longtime Ottawa County residents. In fact, Hank who was an engineer, graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1939. Ruth was, for many years, the Secretary and Bookkeeper of Spring Lake Public Schools. This scholarship is given to a graduating high school student planning to pursue a career in engineering, computer science, pre-law, or medicine.
