Scholarships Grand Haven Area Community Foundation scholarships are awarded competitively based on criteria set by donors. Once your application is submitted, you will be eligible for all those for which you meet the requirement. Henry D. and Ruth G. Swartz Family Fund This fund was established in 1996 by Henry and Ruth Swartz who desired to assist area high school graduates to pursue their post-secondary education. Hank and Ruth were longtime Ottawa County residents. In fact, Hank who was an engineer, graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1939. Ruth was, for many years, the Secretary and Bookkeeper of Spring Lake Public Schools. This scholarship is given to a graduating high school student planning to pursue a career in engineering, computer science, pre-law, or medicine.
