Helen M. Robinson Grant

The Helen M. Robinson Grant, offered by the International Literacy Association, provides a US$500 award to doctoral students engaged in dissertation research related to reading and literacy. The International Literacy Association (ILA) Helen M. Robinson Grant is a US$500 grant established in memory of Helen M. Robinson to support a doctoral student in the early stages of their dissertation research in the area of reading and literacy.
Proposals will be evaluated on the following:

• Research question
• Rationale for the research
• Literature review
• Methodology
• Research significance
• Clarity, cohesion, and specificity of proposal
• Budget and timeline for project
• The grant will be awarded only in years when the committee concludes there is a high-quality application that meets the rigorous standards outlined above.
• This grant is funded by a generous donation from Sam Weintraub.

Eligibility

Applicants for the Helen M. Robinson Grant must be doctoral students planning or beginning their dissertations in the area of reading and literacy.To be eligible, candidates must be ILA members in good standing and maintain active membership through the specified date.Please note that candidates may apply for more than one ILA research grant but are limited to accepting only one research award per year.Proposed projects must be completed within two years of the award date.

Ineligibility

Please note that institutional overhead or indirect costs are not covered under this grant.
