Healthy Tree Canopy Grants for Schools

The Hennepin County Healthy Tree Canopy Grant supports community efforts to protect, restore, and strengthen urban and community tree canopies while engaging residents in tree stewardship. The program assists eligible recipients with planning and managing threats from invasive insects and diseases (such as emerald ash borer and Asian long-horned beetle), implementing tree care activities including planting and pruning, and increasing tree diversity.Grant goals also include educating students and community members about the importance of trees and mobilizing action to protect them, as well as building a more diverse and climate-resilient canopy by introducing well-adapted species. Overall, the program recognizes trees as critical community assets that require ongoing maintenance and deliver significant environmental, health, and quality-of-life benefits.
