Summary

The Healthy American Forests Initiative, led by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), aims to enhance forest health and resilience through targeted funding. This initiative anticipates awarding 10-15 grants ranging from $250,000 to $2 million, supporting projects up to 2 years in duration. A 20% non-federal match is required, and interested applicants are encouraged to collaborate with NFWF and Native Americans in Philanthropy for potential match funding.

Overview

NFWF is committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. We continuously monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure our policies, procedures, and operations align with current federal directives. We encourage all applicants to do the same. The ability and extent to which NFWF is able to make awards is contingent upon receipt of funds from federal agencies and/or other funding partners. Final funding decisions will be made based on the applications received and the level and timing of funding received by NFWF. Healthy American Forests Initiative NFWF anticipates this will be a singular funding cycle granting 10-15 awards. The award sizes will range from $250,000 to $2 million and the maximum project length is 2 years. Projects may not have an end date beyond May 30, 2028. Projects are required to provide non-federal match valued at 20 percent of total project costs (25 percent of the grant request to NFWF). Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP), as a part of their partnership with NFWF, will be providing a portion of match for granted Tribally led HAFI projects when possible. This match will be subject to NAP funding availability. If you are interested in making use of NAP's match opportunity, please reach out to NFWF staff. NFWF will work with NAP to allocate funds to applicable projects, applicants do not need to add the NAP funds to the matching section of their proposal.
