Healthcare Infection Society: FIS/HIS Travel Grant

The Healthcare Infection Society offers the FIS/HIS Travel Grant, providing up to £1000 to support early career members presenting their Infection Prevention and Control work at the FIS/HIS conference. Eligible applicants must be members presenting at events, with funding covering registration, travel, accommodation, and childcare costs. The grant is exclusively for members, and previous recipients can reapply after two years. Applications should be submitted upon abstract acceptance, ensuring all expenses align with HIS policies.

NOTE: Applicants should apply for a HIS travel grant as soon they have confirmation that their abstract has been accepted.
HIS will offer travel grants of up to £1000 to support the attendance of members who are presenting their Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) work at FIS/HIS conference.
We offer travel grants  to support members in an early career or trainee post to present their research at a scientific conference or meeting. The grant is expected to provide a contribution towards the costs of registration, travel, accommodation and subsistence. The scientific programme of the chosen event must contain a substantial content on infection prevention control and healthcare associated infections. Travel grants are awarded for a particular conference and only for the presentation of studies within the topic of healthcare associated infection and infection prevention and control (our full research strategy can be found here).
Face-to-face and hybrid events: for hybrid events where the delegate is presenting and attending face to face for an element of the programme, they are eligible to apply for a full travel grant.
Online-only events: we are accepting travel grant applications to cover registration costs for online events, where the delegate is presenting their work. A maximum registration fee of £350 can be claimed. If a delegate is attending a hybrid event as an online participant, they are still eligible to apply for registration costs.

Eligibility

Members of the society who are presenting at an event are eligible to apply. Funding may be used to cover the registration fee, travel, accommodation and/or childcare costs.These costs must be claimed in arrears of the event and expenses must be fully supported by receipts. All expenses must be in line with the HIS expenses policy.Only members of HIS can apply. Eligibility commences immediately upon joining the Society and non-members can join the Society online.It is expected that the grant holder will have business travel insurance provided their institution.

Ineligibility

Previous recipients of a travel grant will not be eligible to re-apply for 2 years.Multiple applications from the same department or research group will not be accepted.
