Health Grant

Funder: The Bearded Collie Club of America Charitable Trust

Purpose: Support canine medical research with emphasis on health issues affecting Bearded Collies; promote education on health, care, and treatment of Bearded Collies.

Funding Focus

The Trust funds (but is not limited to):
• Peer review canine medical research studies
• Medical expenses for rescued dogs
• Jump starting well-defined fundraising projects for health
• Public education projects with a specific health focus

What Will NOT Be Funded

• General operating expenses for any group or individual
• Debt reduction
• Wages or other financial enrichment of individuals or groups (except medical research studies)
• Endowment funds
• Grant requests from groups or individuals with little or no other funding sources besides the BCCA Charitable Trust

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:
• The request is pertinent to BCCA Charitable Trust purposes
• The group is creditable (evidence of outside financial support, best accounting and operating practices, successful mission execution, longevity, references)
• The Trust has available funds

Requirements

• Completed BCCA Charitable Trust Health Grant Form
• Grant money must be used for stipulated purposes
• Report(s) on grant use and effectiveness required; specific reporting requirements set per grant; final report always required (interim reports may be required)
• Acknowledgement of BCCA Charitable Trust grant in appropriate grantee publicity

Recent Example

In 2023, the Trust donated $154,410 to the Morris Animal Foundation study "Targeting the Integrin Complex in Canine Hemangiosarcoma, Study 25CAINEI-0040" to improve survival of dogs with hemangiosarcoma.
