Harvard Charles Warren Center Term Time Research Grant

The Harvard Charles Warren Center Term Time Research Grant supports Ph.D. candidates in American history, allowing them to conduct focused dissertation research without teaching duties for one semester. Eligible candidates must have passed their general examination, be enrolled as G-6 or below, and employ a historical methodology in their projects. Annually, 6-8 grants are awarded, offering a stipend to aid research efforts, though tuition may not be covered for all candidates.

Graduate Grants
The Charles Warren Center, Harvard's research center for North American history, awards grants to Ph.D. candidates at Harvard working on topics in American history. To be funded, a student must have passed the general examination, must be undertaking a project centered in American history, and be using a historical methodology.
Warren Center term time research grants are one-semester awards to enable sustained dissertation research free from teaching responsibilities in the fall or spring term. In the recent past, 6-8 grants have been awarded annually, to students G-6 or below during the award period. Grant provides a five-month stipend in an amount set annually by GSAS. The grant does not include tuition or fees for students through G-5 (when such charges are typically otherwise covered), but will cover such charges for G-6s.

Eligibility

Only Harvard American History PhD candidates may apply.The project must be centered in American history and the methodology must be historical.Students who will be G-6 or below during the award period.A student may not hold this award for more than one semester of his or her graduate career.
