Overview

HAIF Housing Assistance for Individuals and Families Leyden Family Services and Mental Health Center operates a 24/7 crisis hotline, which has seen the need for crisis services surge dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic. They will expand their crisis support services, specifically to address housing difficulties by developing short-term assistance programs to help individuals and families with rent, mortgages, and utility bills to prevent homelessness. Funds will also be used for housing application fees, gas, clothing, furniture, groceries, and other necessities. Supportive services such as mental health counseling, addiction treatment, job training, and social services to address the root cause of housing instability. The Grantee will also partner with other community organizations to provide wrap-around support. Additionally, funds will be used for additional staff and tools to enrich client activities including therapeutic games, recreational therapy materials, and evidence-based training for staff. Funding Priorities or Focus Areas IDHS is working to counteract systemic racism and inequity, and to prioritize and maximize diversity throughout its service provision process. This work involves addressing existing institutionalized inequities, aiming to create transformation, and operationalizing equity and racial justice. It also focuses on the creation of a culture of inclusivity for all regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or ability. Cost Sharing or Match Requirements Providers are not required to participate in cost sharing or provide match. Serves as Maintenance of Effort to the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Community Mental Health Block Grant. The Department expects to award approximately $66,500.
