Award Amount

• $10,000 annually to an NRHS graduating senior

Eligibility Requirements
Awardee must meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Demonstrated financial need
• First generation to enroll in post-secondary education
• Embodies H. Jesse Arnelle's legacy in athletics and academic achievements

About H. Jesse Arnelle

• NRHS Class of 1951 (triple-letter scholar-athlete)
• Played football at Penn State (All-American)
• All-American basketball player
• First Black student body president at Penn State
• Professional athlete, attorney, human and civil rights advocate
• Worked on Bobby Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign
• Championed changes in Penn State's recruitment policies for minority students and faculty

Scholarship Funding Source

• Established from a $350,000 estate gift in June 2024
• Designates $250,000 for endowed scholarship
• $100,000 allocated for student programming
