The American Physical Society is a nonprofit membership organization working to advance physics by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and global community dedicated to science and society. APS represents more than 50,000 members, including physicists in academia, national laboratories, and industry in the United States and around the world.

Student Speaker Award Nominations

Each year GSNP offers a Student Speaker Award for best contributed talk at the March meeting by a graduate student in the area of Statistical and Nonlinear Physics.

Up to five finalists will be selected. Up to 500 dollar travel funding will be provided to chosen finalists presenting their talk in person. The first-place winner will receive an additional $500 award. Prizes will be announced at the GSNP Business meeting.

Eligibility

* Students must:
* be nominated by their dissertation advisor
* be a GSNP member
* be currently pursuing a PhD
* not have completed the PhD requirements before the application deadline
* submit their abstract for the March Meeting in one of the GSNP sessions and give an oral presentation in person at the meeting
