Gray Family Foundation Camp Maintenance Grant

The Gray Family Foundation Camp Maintenance fund aims to enhance outdoor school camp facilities across Oregon, investing over $500,000 annually since 2014. This initiative focuses on vital repairs, including weatherproofing, roofing, and plumbing systems, ensuring safe and accessible environments for children. Applications are open to non-profit organizations without invitation, emphasizing inclusivity and diversity in selection. However, capital projects for new construction and recreational maintenance are excluded from funding.

John Gray identified the ongoing maintenance of outdoor school camp facilities as a critical factor in preserving a full range of options for kids to get outside. Since 2014, the Gray Family Foundation has annually invested over $500,000 directly into the improvement of existing facilities at Oregon’s outdoor residential camps throughout the state.
This fund is directed to help with repairs and improvements to vital existing facilities such as:
Insulation and weatherproofingRoofing, siding, windows, gutters, and drainpipe replacementsDry rot correction and staining/paintingDoors, decks, floors, and floor coveringsWater, sewer, septic, irrigation, heating, electrical, and plumbing systemsRoads, paths, trails, and signageGrounds upkeepSafety upgrades and features compliant with the Americans with Disability ActMasonry and concrete repairsCabinets and countertopsEmergency repairs

Eligibility

We will consider applications submitted by non-profit camp facilities or school, districts, tribal entities, or 501(c)3 non-profit organizations submitting on behalf of an organizational camp in Oregon.You do not need to receive an invitation to apply.

Ineligibility

The foundation will not fund:
Capital projects for new construction (i.e. new buildings)Pool repairs, ropes course repairs, or other primarily recreation focused maintenance projects.Purchase of additional property (including vehicles)
