Summary

The Experimental Psychology Society (EPS) provides grants of up to £4,500 for workshops focused on experimental psychology. These grants support travel, maintenance, and other essential costs associated with hosting workshops. Preference is given to innovative proposals that diversify the research community and have not previously received EPS funding. The society encourages accessibility and aims to support workshops that engage EPS members and postgraduate students in the UK.

Overview

About the Experimental Psychology Society The EPS was founded in 1946. Its role is to facilitate research in experimental psychology, and scientific communication among experimental psychologists and those working in cognate fields. Based in the UK, it also has many members in mainland Europe and elsewhere overseas. The EPS holds regular scientific meetings at which members and guests present their work, sponsors scientific workshops on special topics, and awards grants and prizes to facilitate postdoctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate research. These activities are funded primarily by proceeds from the sale of the EPS’s journal, the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology (QJEP). The Society does not engage in any activity intended to affect the professional status of its members or of psychologists generally. Grants for EPS Research Workshops The Society grant will offer financial support for workshops in experimental psychology. A maximum of £4,500 may be awarded to any individual proposal. Awards may be used to contribute towards travel and maintenance of workshop participants, and other basic costs (eg printing) as specified in the budget. In the evaluation of workshop proposals, the committee encourages applicants to develop a speaker programme that appropriately represents the diversity of the research community. In any cover letter, the applicant may wish to address how this was attempted. Presentations made at workshops do not count as presentations to the Society.
