NCSBA Golden Achievement Program (GAP)

Funder: North Carolina State Beekeepers Association

Overview: Recognition and grant program for NCSBA local chapters that meet minimum requirements and submit documentation of their activities and accomplishments.

Geographic Scope: North Carolina (chapter-based)

Award Details:

  • Standard GAP Recognition: $300 grant for chapters meeting GAP minimum requirements

  • GAP Chapter of the Year: $700 grant for one chapter annually, designated to fund a service project of the chapter's choosing

    • Eligibility:

  • NCSBA member chapters

  • Must meet GAP minimum requirements

  • Chapters receiving Golden Achievement Chapter of the Year in 2020, 2019 (Orange Chapter), or 2018 (Albemarle Chapter) are not eligible for standard recognition in the immediate following period

    • Submission Period: Chapters submit books documenting activities from January 1 - December 31 annually

    Key Features:

  • All eligible chapters can submit documentation for recognition

  • Special opportunity noted for 2020 allowing all chapters to participate regardless of prior recognition

  • Program evaluates chapters' promotion and support of North Carolina beekeeping

    Application Process

    Submission Method:
    1. Prepare a GAP notebook/book documenting chapter activities and accomplishments for the calendar year (January 1 - December 31)
    2. Use the current year's GAP Guide (check website for latest version)
    3. Submit notebook by deadline (typically at Spring Conference or via mail)

    Submission Details:

  • In-Person: Submit at NCSBA Spring Conference (noon deadline on Saturday as of 2018)

  • By Mail: Mail to GAP Chair to arrive by deadline

  • Online Guide: Download GAP Guide and summary from NCSBA website

    • What to Include:

  • Documentation of chapter activities throughout the year

  • Accomplishments in areas outlined in GAP Guide (specific categories and sections vary by year)

  • Follow current year's guide format (different versions available for different years)
