GoGrant

Overview: The GoGrant program from Movability provides financial assistance to support projects that result in fewer drive-alone trips and encourage use of carpooling, biking, vanpooling, and transit in Central Texas.

Status: Active with two funding cycles per year

Geographic Scope:

  • Primary focus: Austin city limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ)

  • Eligible applicants must be located within one of six Central Texas counties: Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties
  • Funding Amount: Up to $7,500 per project per cycle

    Grant Types:

      Infrastructure Projects

    • Materials/goods and permanent structures that result in more people using active modes
    • Examples: bike racks, lockers, bike loan programs, repair stations, designated micro-mobility parking, covered bike parking, shade structures for transit waiting, water bottle filling stations, skateboard racks
    • Must include small sign referencing Movability and GoGrant
    • Must comply with city code and ordinances with proper municipal permitting
    • Not funded: beautification projects, construction not directly related to active/micro-mobility, placemaking, landscaping, lighting, security cameras

      Programmatic Projects

    • Incentives and policies that encourage active commuting
    • Examples: discounts/subsidies for mobility options, transit pass purchases, micromobility pass programs, subsidized vanpools, gamification programs, education/marketing programs

      Mobility Planning Projects

    • Focused professional consulting services from Movability
    • Only available to larger employers (more than 49 employees or above $10 million annual revenue)
    • Examples: employee commute surveys, transportation resource inventory, employee origin/destination mapping, strategy proposals

    Eligibility:

  • Organization size: Very small businesses or organizations (≤49 employees or <$10 million annual revenue) eligible for all three grant types

  • Large organizations: >49 employees or >$10 million annual revenue only eligible for planning projects

  • Nonprofits: Eligible to apply

  • Membership requirement: Not required to apply, but must be willing to become/remain Movability member upon receiving funds; first year membership covered by grant

  • Match requirement: No match required

  • Multiple awards: One project per cycle per organization, but may submit separate applications for different projects
  • Funding Sources: The City of Austin, Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program, and donor contributions

    Reporting Requirements:

  • Recipients must measure project impact with pre- and post-grant activity measurements

  • Movability works with each recipient to determine appropriate reporting metrics

  • Funds may NOT be used to pay staff for project management

  • Funds MAY be used for materials and installation of goods

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Funding Cycles: Two cycles per year in Q1 (first quarter) and Q3 (third quarter)

    2026 Spring Cycle:

  • Application period: February 3 - February 26, 2026 (CLOSED)
  • 2026 Fall Cycle:

  • Applications expected to open: July/August 2026
  • Application Steps:
    1. Complete online application (available during application period)
    2. Submit application with required documentation
    3. Movability evaluates and scores application
    4. Applicants notified of funding decisions
    5. If awarded, agree to project implementation and reporting

    Required Materials:

  • Completed application form

  • Project description with clear outcomes demonstrating reduction in drive-alone trips

  • Project budget aligned to grant type (infrastructure, programmatic, or planning)

  • Evidence of property manager agreement (if applicable for infrastructure projects requiring installation)

  • Willingness to become/remain Movability member
