GMF General Grants

The Greater Montana Foundation offers grants to promote communication on vital issues for Montanans, focusing on electronic media. Funding is available for diverse projects such as documentaries, films, and webinars, with applications due April 1. Eligible programs must be accessible to Montana media outlets, schools, and libraries. Priority is given to projects addressing key concerns like jobs, education, and healthcare. The foundation does not fund equipment purchases or staff positions, emphasizing impactful media initiatives.

The Greater Montana Foundation benefits the people of Montana by encouraging communications, with an emphasis on electronic media, on issues, trends, and values of importance to present and future generations of Montanans.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a non-profit or tax-exempt organization. Individuals may work with a tax-exempt Fiscal Sponsor organization to apply. If awarded, the Fiscal Sponsor organization will be responsible for managing all grant funds. Educational films, documentaries, podcasts, and mini-series are all acceptable project formats. GMF does not usually fund fiction films, fundraising videos, marketing campaigns, or projects that focus on issues outside Montana. GMF does not fund political advocacy projects unless all sides of an issue are considered.

Ineligibility

The Greater Montana Foundation does not usually fund staff salaries, equipment purchases, general operating expenses, marketing/advertising or Indirect/Facilities & Administration costs.
