Overview

Give Back Careers Program

Program Type: One-on-one coaching and mentorship for youth

Geographic Scope: Multiple states including California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Washington

Target Population:

  • Ages 13-16 years old, or in 8th, 9th, or 10th grade

  • Foster youth and financially vulnerable students

  • Students facing significant adversities including: child abuse and neglect, homelessness, parental incarceration, or four or more Adverse Childhood Experiences

  • Open to applicants struggling with any kind of adversity
  • Focus Areas: Built on three curriculum pillars:

  • Economic Stability: Guiding students toward career paths aligned with their interests and strengths

  • Resiliency: Building ability to bounce back from adversity and maintaining growth mindset

  • Relational Wealth: Developing intentional and authentic relationships for guidance, connection, and support
  • Program Components:

  • One-on-One Coaching: Professionally trained coaches meet with scholars approximately once every two weeks, with additional communication via chat, phone, text, and email

  • Student Action Planning: Helping youth set and track personal, educational, and career goals with regular progress check-ins and quarterly plan updates

  • Scholar Saturdays: Monthly workshops (in-person and virtual) during the school year teaching evidence-based skills for building economic stability, resilience, and relational wealth
  • Support Areas: Helping students get into college, community college, or trade school

    Application Process

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ages 13-16 years old OR in 8th, 9th, or 10th grade

  • Applicants should be facing significant adversities (child abuse, neglect, homelessness, parental incarceration, or 4+ ACEs), but all struggling with adversity encouraged to apply
  • Application Steps:

    1. Complete Student Interest Form - Initial expression of interest
    - Provides contact information for program outreach
    - Does not obligate applicant to program
    - Confidential; information not sold or shared

    2. Receive Application & Forms - Applicant will be contacted via email with formal application and supporting forms

    3. Submit Scholar Application - Complete the formal application through the online portal
    - Verify personal information (first name, last name, date of birth)
    - Confirm contact and account information
    - Complete verification process

  • Scholar Support Center available to assist with application

  • Book appointment for support working through application steps
