Gilead Research Grants: External-Sponsored Research - HIV RESONATE RFP

Gilead Research Grants support innovative, high-impact projects aimed at enhancing healthcare for vulnerable communities globally, particularly in HIV treatment. Letter of Inquiry - Gilead will evaluate and rank LOIs received on a monthly basis until funds are exhausted. It is strongly recommended to submit earlier rather than later so that proposals can be evaluated while funding is still available. Gilead funds externally-sponsored research, including community-based participatory research, and has a Research Scholars Program across our therapeutic areas of virology, oncology and inflammation.
We support research conducted by third parties on our products or within our therapeutic areas of interest. This research can provide valuable information regarding the safety, efficacy and tolerability of our products and supplements the comprehensive data generated in registration studies.
We are committed to generating and supporting critical, high-quality research that has an impact on clinical decision-making and patients’ lives. Our external-sponsored research program provides funding and/or study drug support for research efforts conducted by third parties on Gilead products or therapeutic areas.
We support two primary types of research, Investigator-Sponsored Research and Collaborative Research. We also support research where the study sponsor is a government organization, nonprofit organization or a pharmaceutical company.
Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) is initiated, designed, and led by independent researchers. For an ISR project, an investigator or institution outside of Gilead is the study sponsor. If the research concerns a Gilead product, the study must occur after regulatory approval of the product in the country where the study will be conducted. Gilead’s only involvement in an ISR project is solely providing funding and/or study drug support.Collaborative Research is similar to ISR where the study sponsor is an investigator or institution outside of Gilead. However, Gilead is involved in Collaborative Research beyond providing funding and/or study drug, such as involvement in study design, protocol development/review, conduct of study, providing data/biological samples, data/sample analysis and/or publication preparation/authorship.
Gilead supports the research efforts of academic institutions, clinical investigators, and research networks that focus on improving outcomes across the treatment care cascade for people with HIV.
Gilead is making a specific request for research study proposals in the disease area of HIV treatment, as further scientific data are needed on B/F/TAF and LEN to support medical management and decisions of clinicians and people with HIV.
Funding
Gilead plans to award up to $4,000,000 in funds for these research proposals, dependent upon availability of funds and receipt of meritorious applications. Gilead anticipates that up to 10 awards will be granted. Any proposal greater than $400,000 should be discussed with your Gilead Medical Scientist prior to submission. Proposed overhead costs should not exceed 30% of total budget.
