Overview

General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant

Overview: Need-based education grant program providing financial assistance to dependents of Air Force members.

Eligibility:

  • Dependent children of Air Force members on active duty (including Title 10 reservists and Title 32 guard)

  • Dependent children of retired Air Force members

  • Dependent children of deceased Air Force members

  • Spouses of active-duty members

  • Surviving spouses of active or retired members

  • Must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at an accredited college or university

  • Must maintain minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Award Amounts: $500 - $4,000 based on financial need

    Program History:

  • Established in 1988

  • As of 2020, has awarded over $172 million to 111,654 students

  • Named grants awarded annually in honor of individuals or organizations exemplifying service to the U.S. Air Force

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Access the Application: Visit www.afas.org to access the Arnold Education Grant application

    2. Application Requirements:
    - Complete the General Henry "Hap" Arnold Education Grant application
    - Demonstrate financial need (family income and student's educational costs considered)
    - Maintain minimum 2.0 GPA

    3. Submission: Submit applications online through afas.org

    4. Deadline: April 30 (annually)

    5. Notification: Selected applicants will be notified of awards

    Additional Opportunities:

  • Applicants with 4.0 GPA may be invited to apply for AFAS Merit Scholarships (up to $5,000)

  • Eligible students can apply for up to $1,000 supplemental education loan (no-interest) for reimbursable out-of-pocket education expenses
  • Note: Applications open in January of each year for the upcoming academic year.
