General Grant Program

Status: Currently not accepting unsolicited requests

Geographic Scope: Limited to nonprofit organizations located in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont

Eligibility:

  • Must be a nonprofit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status

  • Grants are NOT awarded to individuals

  • All grantees must wait one year from the date of award before reapplying (except Campership requests)
  • Focus Areas: Based on 2024 awards, the Trust supports:

  • Health & Welfare programs

  • Education and Scholarships (not awarded in 2024 due to increased need in other areas)

  • Homeless Shelter initiatives

  • Food Bank/Food Pantry programs

  • Dental/Oral Health services

  • Camperships/Recreational programs
  • Review Process:

  • Proposals reviewed on a monthly basis or more often as necessary

  • Letter of Inquiry responses sent via email

  • Grant Proposal Letters of Decision sent by U.S. Mail
  • Reporting Requirements:

  • Status report required after grant has been expended

  • How to Apply

    Letter of Inquiry (First-Time Applicants Only)

    If you have never applied to the Trust, submit an LOI as your first contact. Skip this step if you are a previous applicant or requesting a Campership grant.

    LOI must include:
    1. Mission of your organization
    2. Brief description of organizational history and current programming
    3. Explanation of need for support
    4. Project budget (if applicable)
    5. Amount requesting and other funding sources under consideration or already secured
    6. Federal Tax ID#
    7. Legal address
    8. Telephone number and email
    9. Your name and title

    Submission Format: Word document or PDF via email to admin@lindsaytrust.org

    Full Grant Request

    Required Documents:
    1. PROPOSAL SUMMARY.doc (optional to use form, but use as guideline for required information)
    2. Narrative of the organization and description of need (can be included in Proposal Summary)
    3. COMPLETE audited Financial Statements for last two years (2023-2024) OR Form 990s - PROPOSALS WITHOUT FINANCIALS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED
    4. Budget for capital expenditures (if applicable)
    5. Estimates or quotes obtained (if applicable)
    6. IRS 501(c)(3) Determination letter
