Ohio Children's Foundation General Grant Program

Geographic Scope: Ohio and beyond (examples include Tucson, Arizona)

Primary Focus Areas:

  • Early childhood education and development (ages 0-5)

  • Early brain and language development

  • School readiness initiatives

  • Children and families who are vulnerable, at-risk, or unlikely to receive services
  • What the Foundation Funds:

  • Innovative pilot programs and successful long-standing initiatives

  • Quality early childhood education programs

  • Family engagement and parent support

  • Developmental, speech, hearing, vision, and dental screenings

  • Literacy and pre-literacy skills development

  • Programs that provide physical and social skill development

  • Advocacy efforts for public policies expanding early childhood education

  • Technical assistance to advocacy organizations
  • What the Foundation Does NOT Fund:

  • Facilities and Administrative costs of universities
  • Key Initiatives:

  • Home visits by kindergarten teachers

  • Book publication and distribution for pre-literacy skills

  • Support for organizations creating public policy environments conducive to children's interests

  • Financial assistance for program fees and school bus transportation
  • Geographic Service Area: Primary focus on Ohio; however, grants have been awarded to organizations in Arizona and other states
