Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation improves the quality of life in Linn County, Iowa by partnering with donors, funders, and other community collaborators to achieve high-impact philanthropy; supporting nonprofit organizations that address our community’s needs and opportunities; and convening people to learn, share ideas, and develop solutions for the future. The Community Foundation is a public, nonprofit organization with over $223 million in assets and over 1,000 different charitable funds. The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation invests in local nonprofit organizations that contribute to improving the quality of life in our community. Our grants support innovation, sustainability and capacity building. Organization Support Grants Organization Support Grants support general operating costs and capacity-building projects for nonprofits that impact the quality of life in Linn County, Iowa.

Must be a nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 statusFor organizations based in Linn County:If less than two years old (based on IRS letter of determination)If operating budget is less than $5 million, may apply for capacity-building projects.If more than two years old (based on IRS letter of determination):If operating budget is less than $5 million, may apply for general operating costs or capacity-building projects.If operating budget is between $5 million – $20 million, may apply for capacity-building projects.For organizations based outside of Linn County:If more than two years old (based on IRS letter of determination) and with operating budget less than $20M, may apply for the Linn County portion of capacity-building projects.

Ineligibility

The Community Foundation generally does not fund more than 20% of an organization’s budget.These grants do not assist with capital infrastructure [bricks and mortar] projects.Organizations with a core religious mission are ineligible.Ineligible Activities:Fundraising events and activitiesProgram-specific staff trainingTravel out of the regionStaff salary costs except when costs are directly related to project implementationReligious activities or efforts supporting an organization’s core religious missionExpenses that have occurred or will occur during the grant review process
