Galpin Society Research Grant

The Galpin Society Research Grant supports research into musical instruments, promoting their construction, development, and use. Established in 1946, the Society connects enthusiasts globally and publishes the Galpin Society Journal annually. Grants are awarded at the start of the academic year, with recipients expected to submit a paper for publication within two years. This funding is not available to committee members, ensuring fair opportunities for all eligible researchers.

The purpose of the Galpin Society research grant is to assist the recipient in undertaking research into the construction, development, manufacture and use of musical instruments, in the anticipation that the resulting work will be suitable for inclusion in The Galpin Society Journal.
The award is made at the beginning of the academic year and the recipient will normally be expected to produce a paper suitable for inclusion in the GSJ within two years.

Eligibility

Normally the grant is made annually and to the recipient once only.
You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. The grant is available to those who have been non-institutional Galpin Society members for at least one year.

Ineligibility

Grant is not available to those currently serving on the committee.
