Future Fund

Award Size: $5,000 grants

Focus: Groups working on emerging issues or developing new approaches to social justice activism or community organizing. Activities may include political education, base-building, or moving toward launch of an organizing campaign.

Geographic Scope: Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Camden counties

Eligibility Requirements

Must meet all of the following:

• Meet all basic eligibility criteria
• New or emerging groups or organizations new to Bread & Roses
• Focusing on developing capacity and skills to build local base and take collective action against problem being addressed
• Led by people most affected by injustice; focus on building broad membership and leadership bases that can survive when key leaders step down
• Understand power and can talk about how they are trying to challenge power imbalances within organizations, communities, and between community members and policy makers
• Less likely to be funded by traditional funders due to commitment to challenging power and prioritizing leadership of marginalized people; grant from Bread & Roses critical to seeding or sustaining work

Restrictions

• Cannot apply for both Future Fund and Racial & Economic Justice Fund in same year
• Organizations can receive up to $50,000 total from Bread & Roses within a 12-month period
• Groups who have received Future Fund grants in the past may reapply in the following grant cycle
