Ellene Brit Christiansen Memorial Fund - Funding Request Program

Mission: Introduce, encourage, and support the artistic development of people with disabilities living in the state of Maryland.

Geographic Scope: Maryland, United States

Focus Areas: Art education and artistic development for individuals with disabilities

Eligible Funding Purposes

  • Purchase of art supplies and/or adaptive art tools for use by individuals with disabilities in a recognized art-oriented program
  • Purchase of assistive technology devices for use by individuals with disabilities in a recognized art-oriented program
  • Scholarships for individuals with disabilities who need financial support to attend a recognized art-oriented program
  • Other purposes with demonstrated critical need and no other available funding (documentation required)

Eligible Entities

The fund contracts with a single entity, which may include:

  • Teacher in a single classroom with eligible students

  • Class of schoolchildren (some or all eligible)

  • Summer camp program

  • After-school program

  • Arts council program

  • Scout troop

  • Homeschool program

  • Nonprofit agency
  • Key Requirements

    • Program must be "recognized arts-oriented program" (broadly defined with sponsoring organization such as church, school, nonprofit agency, etc.)
    • Must demonstrate critical need for any non-listed purposes
    • Application and budget combined should not exceed four pages
    • Brevity and completeness are key

    Reporting Requirements

    • Reports designed based on signed agreement
    • Must include demographic, budgetary, and programmatic information
    • Must include measurements of participant progress
    • Single designated point of contact responsible for all reporting
