Overview: The Southeast Coastal Ocean Observing Regional Association (SECOORA) invites proposals for research projects that address identified environmental concerns within the Southeast US region through collection of additional observations.

Geographic Scope: Southeast US region

Focus Areas - Environmental Concerns:

  • Harmful algal blooms

  • Sound in the marine environment

  • Coral health
  • Project Requirements:

  • Address one or more of the three environmental concerns listed above

  • Address a key gap in scientific understanding, technology, or data

  • Observations may be physical, bio-optical, chemical, or acoustic

  • Intent to integrate with SECOORA's observational, modeling, and/or data management sub-systems

  • Must significantly involve stakeholders for the environmental concern being addressed

  • Projects are 12-month duration
  • Award Details:

  • Grant awards range: $5,000 - $30,000

  • Estimated 1-2 awards provided
  • Eligibility Restrictions:

  • Federal agencies and federal employees are NOT allowed to apply for funding
